Why DO they smile back?

Hopefully I'll have a Knytt Stories video out soon. I seem to be getting much better at Parodius. I know this because I didn't die at all in the first level you saw there. Another thing that bothers me, about goldfish. Why is it that they always smile when they're about to be devouered by a giant? I mean, it'd be fine if only a few of them smiled, maybe the mentally challanged ones who have no idea what's going on, but all of them smile. We've seen in the commercials that most goldfish are, in fact, mentally sound. I know I would be more than a little scared if a giant pink monster grabbed me and threw me into a huge, slimy cave full of giant white tombstones that fall towards me at a huge speed, nearly guaranteed to turn me into a wet pile of orange dust, but those darn crackers have that dumb smile plasterd on their face all the time, even in the predicament mentioned above. Sorry about ranting on about that, but it really bugs me...
